Cayman Cocktail Week’s Specialty Menus
Cayman Cocktail Week’s Specialty Menus are for those of us looking for a new experience at our favourite restaurants and bars throughout the month of October. This year over 30 bars took part in serving tasty, innovative cocktails by their team of talented bartenders and mixologists. Read on to learn more about three signature bars on island that I visited.
A trip to Steak Social is never complete without a cocktail from well-known mixologist Juan Manuel. His drinks are well conceptualised because he enjoys pairing uncommon flavours and creating his own infused liquors and bitter-like concoctions. At first glance his ‘Guatemala Sunset’ reads like a rum punch, but his version includes the digestif Amaro for a slight bite. On the other hand, his ‘Blueberry Mile’ is refreshing and smooth thanks to the subtle base of coconut-infused Ketel One vodka.
Ristorante Pappagallo’s head bartender, Lupo, is beloved by residents in the area because of his charming personality and insistence on using only the freshest ingredients. Don’t be alarmed when he grabs a fruit, from what you thought was an elaborate display, and juices it right in front of you! He regularly serves a 20 item cocktail menu, and has added 5 new items specifically for Cayman Cocktail Week. His ‘Peppergallo’ is one-of-a-kind and surprisingly delicious when you consider that it has an orange and bell pepper base.
UNION is the newest restaurant to arrive in Camana Bay and is quickly becoming known for their classic cocktails and martinis. Their Cayman Cocktail Week menu takes a specific liquor and enhances it with a few key ingredients. The ‘Sevilla Essence by Johnson’ is all about promoting the orange flavours found in Tanqueray Sevilla, while the ‘Just in Thyme by Steph’ uses citrus juices and a little heat to balance the earthiness found in the El Jimador.
