Cayman’s best… burgers

Burgers are adored by many of us, so it makes sense that you can find them everywhere, from casual restaurants to high-end establishments. To be clear in what my #CaymansBestBurgers list features, I’ve focused on the true definition of a ‘burger’: a minced meat (or vegetable) patty served on a soft bun.

This list features the most popular and delicious burgers that I have verified so far, but there’s always room to improve. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you’ll find restaurants that are known for having a wide selection of burgers that you can also give a try.

Casa 43 Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar

Mexican ingredients + Burger setup = ‘La Mexicana Burger’. This one features a juicy 8oz beef patty, bacon guacamole, pepper jack cheese and roasted tomato mayo in a milk bun. It’s skewered with a pepperjack cheese-filled jalapeño that’s wrapped in crispy bacon.

Cayman Cabana

The Peppa Jelly Cabana Burger is the most Caribbeanised burger I’ve ever had! This island creation includes a beef patty with tomato, lettuce, grilled onions, caramelised plantains, melted brie, jerk aioli and local pepper jelly.

Coccoloba

The beach bar at the Kimpton Seafire Resort has their own take of a Mexican-inspired burger. A sizzling 8oz beef patty is topped with gooey Oaxaca cheese, creamy mexi-slaw and a garlicky chimichurri. Definitely get extra chimi on the side!

Czech Inn Grill

While driving through Bodden Town stop at Czech Inn Grill for a roadside burger. The Bacon Cheeseburger is a beef patty with melted cheddar and a ton of crispy bacon with lettuce, tomato and onions on the side. I love adding barbecue sauce on top of mine to make it extra saucy!
Their Blue Cheeseburger is also amazing if you too love the robust flavours of blue cheese and caramelised onions.

Lobster Pot

The Lobster Pot Burger is a Friday-only lunch special that’s famous on island. A beef burger patty is topped with a Caribbean lobster tail, fresh jalapeños, caramelised onions, melted cheese, crispy bacon and their special sauce before being skewered by an onion ring and shrimp. This one is not for the faint of heart!

Macabuca

This seaside restaurant is the perfect spot to fuel up after a shore dive or snorkel. Their signature Big Maca Burger is as tall as they come and is layered with a beef patty, jerked onions, provolone cheese, bacon, mushrooms, jalapeño escovitch fritters and homemade tomato relish. Try their unique Lamb Burger if you want something lighter - feta cheese, mint pesto sauce, arugula, onion and tomato.

Seven Mile Burger

One their gourmet list of burgers is The Smokey - a juicy beef patty with lettuce, tomato, smoked gouda, crispy bacon, sauteed onions and poblanos, signature NSA sauce and BBQ sauce. They also have a classic Mushroom Swiss Burger that is loved by many and has sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, crispy bacon, caramelised onions and a garlic mayo.
